OIL PRICES
30/06/09 - Oil prices jumped more than 2 percent to a new eight-month high above $73 a barrel
RED DIESEL in the UK
With effect from 1st November 2008 HMRC will introduce a new scheme for charging duty on marine diesel. Customers will 'self' declare whether they are a commercial or recreational vessel.
GIBRALTAR
From June 2007 duty free fuel no longer available to private vessels below 250GT.
CEUTA
May 2007 new Superyacht facility in Ceuta offers marine gas oil (duty free) in addition to all Superyacht services.
SULPHUR DIRECTIVE
1 January 2010 – EU Sulphur Directives (1999/32/EC and 2005/33/EC) require that all types of marine fuel used by ships at berth in EU ports and by inland waterway vessels should have a maximum sulphur content of 0.1. Failure to comply can result in heavy fines imposed by member states.
